Citizens United To Protect The Maurice River and Vineland Environmental Commission / Tarkiln Branch Trash Cleanup / 2-8-25
CU Maurice River is teaming up with the Vineland Environmental Commission for a trash cleanup at Tarkiln Branch in Vineland on Saturday, February 8. Supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring a litter-picker and/or fishing net if you have one. Wear knee boots or waterproof footwear.
Tarkiln Branch flows into Parvin Branch, which then empties into the Maurice River just north of Sherman Ave. According to the Ocean Conservancy, nearly eighty percent of plastic waste in the ocean begins as litter on land. It is carried by rainwater and wind to rivers and then to bays and oceans. By participating in cleanups, you are directly preventing marine life from ingesting microplastics which eventually make their way into humans through the food chain. Help us stop plastic and other waste from ending up in our waterways and harming wildlife - and, eventually, us.
Litter cleanups are an excellent opportunity to spend the day outside, enjoying nature, all while keeping Cumberland County beautiful. Join the clean-up team: Be a CU Litter Obliterator!Citizens United To Protect The Mauric...Date and Time
