Citizens United To Protect The Maurice River - Reducing Household Waste Make-n-Take Workshop: Bath Spa Kit / 4-23-25
Tina Solak, owner of The Refill Market in Haddon Township, will present a workshop on how to reduce household waste; this will be followed by making a bath spa kit to take home which will focus on biodegradable and non-toxic products.
This event is part of CU Maurice River's Watershed Stewards Designation Program. By participating in the workshop, you will learn about using biodegradable personal hygiene products that you can implement in your home to earn points towards either Stream-Friendly or Wildlife-Friendly status.

Phthalates are microscopic chemicals not removed by municipal water treatment systems which aren't sophisticated enough to filter them out.
She was motivated to open a zero-waste store with the knowledge that less than 10% of the plastic going into recycling bins actually gets recycled. Most of it ends up in the ocean, in landfills, or is incinerated. Plastic takes 500 years to break down and even then, it doesn’t biodegrade, it just breaks down into microplastics that continue to pollute our water, soil, and air, harming wildlife and humans.
