Each year, CU Maurice River runs Wild About Cumberland at this location in Commercial Township. Join it at the upcoming Tuesday on the Fly: PSEG Estuary Enhancement Program (EEP) to explore Delaware Bay's agricultural history and the ensuing ecological restoration.
Expansive salt hay farms once dominated the landscape. When abandoned, the invasive grass, Phragmites australis, was allowed to take over. During this event, participants will have the chance to learn more about the efforts that led to Delaware Bay becoming the world's largest wetland restoration site as part of PSEG's Estuary Enhancement Program.
This outing will take you to various access points that were established through PSEG's EEP in Commercial Township. Becky Clanton, PSEG's Senior Environmental Specialist, will lead a nature walk at Berrytown Road and other viewing platforms nearby. She will share her expertise and professional experience, offering a unique perspective on how these efforts are improving habitat integrity and biodiversity along the Bayshore.
